Abstract

204,253. Korp, C. Dec. 27, 1922. Expanding bedsteads. - An auxiliary supporting surface may be placed to form an extension of the bed, or may be suspended beneath it by means of hangers sliding on transverse rails attached to the bedstead. At one end the transverse rails 3, which hook over the bed frame 2, are formed with projections 5; the T-headed hangers 11, 17 which support the auxiliary frame 10 pass through slots in the rails, and on extending the bed the inner hangers 11 occupy the end projections 5, and being pivoted may be reversed, permitting the frame 10 to be raised level with the bed surface. Legs 20, pivoted to the auxiliary frame, support its outer edge, and the frame carries hinged end and side pieces 15, 16 and a fixed side piece 23 to retain the bedding.
