Abstract

260,695. Cottrill, R. P. Aug. 13, 1925. Bedsteads.-In a table convertible into a bedstead, the mattress or bed bottom is provided with a frame which is separate from, though removably supported within, the side rails of the table, so that although the mattress can be removed from the table frame when desired, the article can be converted without such removal taking place. Fig. 1 shows such a device in which the frame D of the mattress B rests upon brackets E secured to the legs C of the table. The table is converted into a bedstead merely by removing the top A. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the mattress comprises two portions J, J<1> hinged together at J<2>, the part J<1> being pro. vided with folding legs L. The modification shown in Fig. 5 consists of an extensible table, the mattress being in two portions 0, O<1>, one slidable on the other as the parts N, N<1> of the table are extended. The top of the table may, in any of the above constructions, be made in a number of parts or leaves, the two end leaves being hinged to the ends of the table and adapted to be turned up to form the head and foot of the bed.
