[Class 52 (ii).] A folding bed of the type mounted so as to swing about a horizontal axis into vertical position, and having means for retaining the mattress and bed-clothes in position when so folded, is provided at one end or side with a rod, chain, roller or other member around which the bed clothes may be drawn for the purpose of altering their positions relatively to each other. The rod or roller may be detachable. The bed frame 3, Fig. 2, is pivoted at 2 in a frame 1 so that it may be raised into vertical position ; folding struts 4, 7 support the foot when in use. Counterbalancing springs 19 may be provided. The foot of the frame is provided with a frame 8, Fig. 3, incorporating transverse members 9, 10 upon which are mounted rollers 11, 12, around which the sheets &c. may be drawn to reverse their relative positions. A detachable rod or a removable chain may be used instead of the rollers. Carried on a rod 13 supported in bracket on the frame 8 is a wire grid 14 adapted to form a support for hooks or clips to which the mattress and bed-clothes are attached so that the latter are suspended, spaced apart, when the bed is raised into vertical position. The mattress is preferably suspended by loops 17, Fig. 5, passed over buttons 18 located at a distance from the edge of the mattress so that the sheets &c. may be folded under the end of the latter. The bed frame may be arranged to pivot about one side instead of about one end, in which case the frame 8 is located on the outer side. In order to provide a settee, a second upholstered frame may be provided under the bed frame 3, the under-side of the latter being upholstered to form the back of the settee when in raised position.
