Abstract
549,156. Mattresses. STERNBERG, B., and RESTWELL SPRING CO., Ltd. June 14, 1941. No. 7565. [Class 52 (iv)] A portable bed &c. comprises a coil-spring mattress carried by a frame in sections hinged together so as to fold as shown in Fig. 3. The coil springs are connected together by transverse wires 13, and by longitudinal wires 12, which are interrupted over three coils at the lines of folding. The frame comprises preferably wood battens 24 with short connecting battens 30, and the parts may be secured in the folded position by hooks 26 which may serve as handles. The coil springs may have an interrupted wire border 18 at their upper ends. An overlay 36 may be secured by string, &c. or the wire structure may be covered with rubberized fabric or American cloth.
