Abstract

Mattresses.-In a convertible table and bedstead, the mattress frame consists of two or more parts of unequal length hinged together near the middle line so that when the shorter part is folded over the longer a. space is left for the accommodation of the bolster, pillows, &c. As shown in Fig. 3, the mattress frame consists of two parts 8, 9, the shorter part 8 being supported, when extended, by legs 14. The ends 11, 12 are curved, and are integral with or riveted to the sides of the mattress frame, which is preferably formed of angle-iron with braced corners, and is adapted to strengthen the table frame. The mattress may consist of two parts of diamond-mesh wires connected bv a central panel of transverse and longitudinal spiral springs.
