The foldable frame 11 of a bed settee comprises four sections 21 . . . 24 pivoted end to end, a pair of legs 40, 41 being pivoted to an outer section 22 and a long intermediate section 24. The long and short intermediate sections are pivoted to the chair frame 10 for movement from an aligned bed formation to a folded formation within the chair frame (Fig. 5), the mattress M being folded within the frame and the legs 40, 41 lying parallel to the long and outer sections. The short and outer sections assume their folded position in response to the movement of the legs 41 which are pivoted to a linkage 14 connecting the chair frame, long and inner sections. A head rest 12 and foot rest 13 are pivotally connected to the foldable frame 11 to be automatically swung to an out-of-the-way position in the chair formation. A foot panel 98 may be pivoted to the outer section to swing from an out-of-the-way position (Fig. 1) to a vertical position closing the front of the chair frame (Fig. 5). Alternatively, the panel may be pivotally connected to the chair frame (see Figs. 7 and 8, not shown).
