Abstract

724,050. Folding beds. MODERN HEALTH PRODUCTS, Ltd. Oct. 8, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 27898/52. Class 52 (3). A foldable portable medical couch, divan, camp bed or the like comprises two similar parts 1, 2 hinged together at each side by a hinge plate 8 and pivots 9, 10. At each end of the couch &c. is a pair of legs 16, braced together and pivoted to the parts 1, 2 at 18 and provided with rule-jointed struts 20 with actuating bars 24 connecting the struts and the hinge plate 8. Owing to the displacement of the pivots 9, 10 from the pivots 25 at the other end of the actuating bar 24 the latter causes the legs 16 to open or fold automatically with movement of the parts 1, 2. The flanges 5, coming together, form a box-like compartment within which the folded legs are housed. The parts 1, 2 each consist of a frame 3 having a rigid top 6 covered by a cover or suitable upholstery 7.
