Abstract

323,799. Jeffers, C. A., and Whincop, J. R. Oct. 10, 1928. Junction boxes.-An insulating block 2 carries on its upper face concentric connectors 5, 6, 7 and on its lower face a series of sets of tubular coupling members 5', 6', 7<1> of different lengths to enable them to be connected by screws 12 to the corresponding connector 5, 6, or 7. The connectors 5, 6, 7 are recessed in grooves 4 or arranged on stepped surfaces, Fig. 3 (not shown), and enclosed by a cover 3, and the members 5<1>, 6', 7<1> are accommodated in slots 5", 6", 7<11> in a base block 1. The whole is assembled in a box formed of a bottom 14 having lips 16 corresponding to the groups of coupling members 5<1>, 6<1>, 7' and forming cable inlets, the cables being gripped for bonding either by plain flanges on the cover 15 or by sliding blocks 22 shaped to fit the cable and secured by a screw 20 and slot 21. The block 22 may be inverted and used to close an unoccupied inlet.
