Abstract

Junction boxes.-A guard casing used in a conduit system which is buried in the floors of a building is cast in three main parts and comprises a low box-like portion 25 provided with two partitions 26 which form three channels between openings 30 in the sides of the box, sockets 31 being provided for the reception of the ends of conduits. The middle portion 33 of the casing is formed in a similar manner with partitions 34, 35 which form three channels transverse to the lower channels, the end walls being provided with openings for the reception of rectangular conduits 40. Each of the upper channels communicates with a lower channel by means of an opening 44. The upper part 47 of the casing receives a lid 57 which is flush with the surface of the floor, and the three parts are held together by bolts. The lid consists of a flanged rim 52 which fits into a groove in the member 47, and a cover plate 59 secured to the rim by screws which can be removed to give access to the box. Extra conduits containing feed cables can be brought to the guard casings if required.
