Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - A precombustion chamber comprises differentlyshaped spaces I - - VI, which decrease in volume and alternate in cross-sectional area from the fuel nozzle a to the cylinder space c. The spaces I, II and VI are cylindrical, the space III comprises a number of atomizing passages, and the spaces IV and V are annular. Relative dimensions and capacities of the different parts are given and the spaces II - - VI may be comprised by a unit detachable from the cylinder. An incandescent igniter b may be provided in the space I. Specifications 322,474 and 323,531 are referred to.
