Controlling flow of lubricant.- The supply of oil to a member is controlled by subjecting the flow, near the member, to a resistance by causing the oil to flow through an annular passage of varying cross-section. As shown, an annularly-grooved member h is arranged within a lubricator plug a which is connected to the oil pipe c by a screwed sleeve g and a biconical wedge f, the diameter of the member h being slightly less than the bore of the plug. The member h is held between the end of the pipe and a shoulder i at the lower end of the plug.
