Abstract

540,878. Regulating fluid flow. AUTO RESEARCH CORPORATION. Aug. 24, 1939, No. 24424. Convention date, Aug. 24, 1938, [Class 135] [Also in Group XXXIV] In a centralized lubricating system such as described in Specification 237,958, [Class 135], in which lubricant is supplied under pressure to a branched distributing piping system having high restriction, flow metering outlets comprising bores fitted with elongated pins having a clearance of the order of one or more thousandths of an inch, the pins or the bores are formed at one or both ends or along their length with enlargements ensuring that the pins will be centred in or take a predetermined position in the bores. Figs 1 and 2 show a flow metering device A fitted with a pin 31 maintained centrally in the bore 30 by projections 50 at the outlet end of the bore. Lubricant is supplied by a tube T secured to the device A by a nut 18 and sleeves 21, 23 and passes through a felt plug 27 and strainer cup 28 to the clearance space between the pin 31 and bore 30. The outlet of the device A is formed with an annular seating 33 for a spring-pressed valve 35 consisting of an oil-silk disc backed by a metal disc.
