Abstract

566,211. Electro - magneticallyactuated valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., and HURST, W. F. F. MARTIN-. June 9, 1943, No. 9289. [Class 135] A solenoid-actuated valve particularly adapted for use on aircraft to control the admission of petrol to mix with lubricating oil to facilitate starting an engine from cold has the armature freely movable within a sleeve or tunnel a isolated from the magnetic coil h which forms a separate unit. The inlet connector b is screwed to the top of the tube while the outlet connector l which carries the valve seat m and a metering plate r is screwed to the lower end of the sleeve a packing being interposed at s. The coil casing has an hexagonal hole engaging a a similarly shaped part on the connector b and is held in place by a spring locking device k. A locking plate v secured to the coil casing also has an hexagonal hole engaging a hexagonal part on'the outlet connector. The core has an axial passage d leading to a transverse passage e and at its lower end carries a valve washer n of synthetic rubber adapted to coact with the seat m. The upper end of the core is tapered to engage a corresponding recess at the lower end of the connector. The valve is normally held on its seat by a spring o arranged between recesses in the connector and core.
