[Class 12 (iii).] Oil is pumped through a pipe a to a cooler b, thence through conduits c, d and a pipe e to a filter f, whence it passes to the bearings of an in ternal-combustion engine, the cooler being provided with a byepass m containing a spring- loaded valve i which opens when the pressure in the cooler exceeds a predetermined amount due to overcooling. The pressure in the system is regulated by an adjustable relief valve g inserted in a pipe h branching from the conduit c.
