[Class 12 (iii)] [See also Group XXIX] In apparatus for lubricating parts exposed to high temperature, e.g. automatic casting machines in which lubricant flows from a heatable supply tank 26 and through a stop valve 27 and finely adjustable valves 13 and thence to the parts to be lubricated in the form of continuous threads on the inner walls of lubricating tubes 10, the lubricant drops from the finely adjustable valves into collecting or regulating containers 6 having channels 8 for overflow or outlet and disposed at the entrance to or in the path of the lubricating tubes 10. If the tube 10 has a curve 13, the outlet 8 is arranged on the side of the tube wall remote from the centre of curvature of the tube. The drops 4 fall from the adjustable valves to the part of the containers 6 remote from the outlets 8. A form of finely adjustable valve comprises a conical plug having axial and radial passages 18, 19, and a part-circumferential groove 21 of variable depth. When the part 19 registers with the outlet 20 there is a full discharge. When a slow feed is required, the parts are disposed as in Fig. 5c, so that flow takes place through the plug passages 19, 21. For very fine adjustments two or more plugs may be arranged inside one another as shown in Fig. 6.
