Force-feed lubricating. - Lubricant supplied by a pump through a pipe 14 and branches 13 to alternate bearings 2, 4, 6 of a multiple-throw crank shaft 1 passes through radial passages 11 into a continuous passage 8 extending through the shaft. whence it passes through pipes 16 connected to the intervening bearings 3, 5 to an outlet pipe 17. Lubricant passes to the crank pin bearings through passages 9. A relief valve is fitted in the outlet pipe 17.
