Driving, suspending, balancing.-An overdriven centrifugal machine has a spindle d upon the upper end of which is secured the rotor b of an electric motor. The stator a of the motor is carried by the casing c supported on the thrust bearing f carried by the upper end of the bearing housing g, which has its external surface formed as a depending frustrum of a cone. Roller and thrust bearings g<1>, g<2> are arranged between the housing g and the shaft, and the housing rests' in a rubber buffer i carried in a conical surface h forming part of the machine frame. The bearing housing and the motor can oscillate with the spindle, while the housing is permitted circumferential movement relative to the motor casing. The housing g has an outward flange g<3>, and a dished tray j is provided to prevent lubricant from reaching the buffer or the basket.
