467,478. Centrifugal machines. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES. Feb. 12, 1937, No. 4268. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1936. [Class 23] [Also in Group IX] High speed vertical spindles such as those used for artificial silk spinning- cans, comprising a spindle of such length and diameter that it is sufficiently flexible to allow of adjustment to the axis of the centre of gravity during rotation and fixed at its lower end in a driven hollow spindle carried by elastically supported bearings, are driven by a belt or cord pulley 10 carried by the hollow spindle 3 at the level of an upper bearing 5, and the roller bearings 5, 6, contacting directly with the hollow spindle, are carried in a housing 7, which serves as an oil-container and is carried by a rubber block 8 of a height approximating to the distance between the bearings.
