Abstract
545,017. Spinning or twisting spindles. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI &. CIE. Nov. 18, 1940, No. 16629. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1939. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] An individually electrically driven spinning or twisting spindle, resiliently supported upon the spindle rail 18 and provided with a foot - step bearing 4 below the rail 18 and a motor having an outwardly disposed rotor 8 which acts as the support for the spool carrier, has the centre of gravity of the spool in position practically coincident with that of the rotary mass without the spool and has the upper guiding bearing 2 of the spindle shaft 1 in the horizontal plane containing the centre of gravity of the rotating masses. The spindle bearings 2, 3 and the foot-step bearing 4 are mounted within a tubular casing 5 which supports also the internally disposed stator 7. An upwardly flared base cover 13 for the piston is mounted upon the casing 5. A stationary bell-shaped cover 20 may be provided to reduce frictional resistance of the air.
