Abstract

303,608. Edison Swan Electric Co., Ltd., and Soundy, L. H. Nov. 9, 1927. Thermionic amplifiers and detectors. - The aerial circuit 1, 2 of a valve receiver is not tuned to the received waves, but impresses oscillations on the grid circuit of an amplifier valve 3, the plate circuit of which is coupled to the tuned grid circuit 5, 7 of the next valve 6, which may be a further amplifier or a detector valve. An auxiliary valve 12 also receives as input the oscillations in the tuned circuit 5, 7 and its plate crcuit is reactively coupled to the tuned circuit to increase the selectivity of the set. The impedance 2 in the untuned aerial circuit may be a resistance, inductance, or capacity, or combinations thereof.
