Abstract

349,483. Valve amplifying circuits. HENRY, P., 6, Vaughan Street, and ROBERTS, E. H., 283, Legrams Lane, both in Bradford, Yorkshire. Jan. 23, 1930, No. 2330. [Class 40 (v).] An amplifying circuit for radio reception and sound reproduction has separate cathode heating circuits for each valve, and the anode of each valve is directly connected to the grid of the succeeding valve. As shown in the Figure for a low frequency amplifying circuit, the cathodes of the two valves V, V<1> are heated by separate circuits 1, 2 from A.C. mains. The plate P of the first valve V is connected directly to the grid G of the second valve, and between the plate P and the cathode of the valve V<1> are connected in series a coupling-choke C and a grid-biasing resistance R, the latter being shunted by a condenser B. The H.T. supply is shunted by a potentiometer Rx, and condensers Bx, which have their intermediate points connected to the valve cathodes. For high-frequency amplification, screen-grid valves may be used (Fig. 2, not shown), and the choke C is replaced by a tuned circuit. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 289,217, 290,032, 300,511, 309,044, 310,539, 330,956 and 335,484, [all in Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.].
