Abstract
360,463. Valve detecting circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, and ROUND, H. J., Westfield, Muswell Hill, both in London. Aug. 2, 1930, No. 23361. [Class 40 (v).] In order to prevent the varying damping of the oscillatory circuit of a thermionic detector due to the shunting effect of the valve conductance across the anode-filament capacity, the anode-grid capacity is neutralized by known means, the input circuit having low effective resistance of the order of that of a tuned circuit subjected to considerable reaction. The above effect is important where oscillatory circuits of negligible resistance are concerned as for instance with circuits of the type described in Specification 358,932, or a circuit associated with a tuning fork, quartz, or other mechanical oscillator. Neutralization may be effected with a triode rectifier by a balancing condenser C3 as shown in Fig. 3 ; alternatively a screen-grid valve may be used as a detector; or two triodes may be used with push-pull input and parallel output circuits, Fig. 4 (not shown).
