Abstract
467,667. Valve circuits for wireless reception. PERCIVAL, W. S. Nov. 20, 1935, No. 32231. [Class 40.(v)] In a super-regenerative receiver the quenching oscillation is such that between the oscillation and quenching periods a state corresponding substantially to critical reaction is maintained for a substantial portion of the quenching cycle. The Figure shows a super-regenerative valve 5 associated with an aerial circuit 3, 4 and quenched by an oscillator 13 which operates as a relaxation oscillator of the blocking oscillation type controlled by the grid condenser 15 and resistance 19. The trains of oscillations are detected by diode 27 shunted by a radio frequency choke 28 and a circuit 29, 30 tuned to the quenching frequency. Oscillations of the quenching frequency are amplified by the valve 31 and detected by a second diode detector 36 connected to the low frequency amplifier through a quench frequency choke 37. Additional tuned circuits in the receiver may be separately quenched or may be provided with additional damping 'by thermionic discharge devices which may be controlled by the quenching oscillations. The quenching oscillation preferably has a wave form with a flat top, the Specification gives curves of suitable waveforms for use as the quenching oscillation. Specification 467,732 is referred to.
