Abstract

490,035. Valve circuits for wireless reception. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Nov. 2, 1936, No. 29755. Void. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] In a super-regenerative receiver, the quenching oscillator is arranged to give quenching negative impulses of relatively high amplitude and of short duration with respect to the intervals between the quenching impulses. The Figure shows a super-regenerative valve 5 with quenching oscillations applied to the grid from an oscillator 45 of frequency higher than the highest signal modulation frequency. The oscillator 45 is a pentode with a condenser 65 connected between the screen and suppressor grids and a variable resistance 67 in the suppressor grid circuit so that the frequency of the relaxation oscillations produced depends on the time constant of the combination 65, 67 and the duration of the negative impulses on the value of condenser 65, which may be reduced to a value approaching the internal capacity of the valve. The coupling to the grid of the valve 5 may include a variable resistance 87 to adjust the amplitude of the quenching oscillations.
