Abstract

877,368. Valve oscillating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. July 5, 1960 [Dec. 18, 1959], No. 43070/59. Class 40(6) A stable valve oscillator comprises a tuned circuit including series inductance 5 and condenser 6 and shunt variable condenser 7 loosely coupled by a small value condenser 8 to a cathode follower 11. The cathode follower 11 comprises the triode portion of a triode pentode and drives the pentode portion 1 via R.C. coupling circuit 12, 14, 15. The pentode portion 1 has as load resistance 2 and is back-coupled to the tuned circuit via condenser 3. A condenser 16 from the anode of the pentode portion 1 to earth equalizes the intensity of oscillation over the tuning range and reduces harmonics of the oscillator frequency. The output is taken across the cathode load 12 of the cathode follower. In a superheterodyne receiver, the condenser 6 may comprise the tracking condenser.
