Abstract
876,052. Transistor oscillating circuits. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd. May 17, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 38566/59. Class 40(6) In a wide-range transistor oscillator which can also produce a number of accurate "spot" frequencies the base circuit of the transistor comprises a resistor 3 of such a value as to prevent oscillation. A tuned circuit comprising coil 7 and condenser 6 is connected in the collector circuit, being back-coupled for oscillation to the emitter circuit via a tap on the coil 7 and resistor 11 and condenser 12. The emitter is biased over resistor 14 and the collector obtains H.T. over choke 8 and decoupling condenser 9. Oscillation over a wide frequency range, tuned by condenser 6, can be obtained by closing switch 2. When the switch is open "spot" frequencies can be obtained by tuning the circuit 6, 7 to the fundamental or one of the harmonics of a piezoelectric crystal 4 shunting the resistor 3 and which is of low impedance, being series resonant at these frequencies.
