Abstract

302,787. Bridge & Co., Ltd., D., and Bradshaw, E. Nov. 18, 1927. Digester and like covers.-A pan adapted to withstand internal pressure, such as a vulcanizing pan or autoclave, is provided with a lid embodying a device which sounds an alarm if the lid is not properly closed. The lid b is provided with lugs b<1> engaging with lugs a<1> to lock the lid in position by turning it upon its seating. A lever d is secured at c<2> to the plug of a valve c, and carries a link d<2> with safety catch s which can only be lowered into the gap g formed by the lid and seating, when the lid is properly locked. When the valve lever cannot be lowered, pressure fluid is admitted through the valve to sound a whistle w to give warning that the lid is not properly closed. If, after opening the exhaust valve, any pressure remains in the pan warning is given when the lever d is lifted.
