299,871. Schmidt'sche Heissdampf- Ges. Nov. 3, 1927, [Convention date]. Superheating by steam.-In a steam power plant having two or more stages, for example, a turbine 9 to which a high-pressure, stage 5 has been added, the steam is superheated between the stages by heating steam, the pressure of which is that of the boiler while its temperature is higher than that of the superheated steam supplied to the first stage. The Figure shows a boiler 1 supplying steam through a superheater 2 and pipe 4 to the high-pressure, stage 5, the exhaust from which passes through a superheater 7 to the low-pressure stage 9. The heater 7 is normally heated by superheated steam taken from the pipe 4 and heated to a higher temperature in superheating coils 12. In the event of a break-down in the coils 12, the heater 7 may be supplied from the pipe 4 by manipulating valves 21, 22, 23. The superheater 12 may be arranged in a separate furnace.
