Abstract

295,388. Sauveur, H. Aug. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Casings.-A valve device for maintaining an excess gas pressure in the casing of a submerged motor has the static pressure of the liquid transmitted to the control member by means of an air column. In the form shown in the Figure the spring loaded diaphragm 68 actuating the valve 78 is subject on one side to the pressure in the pipe 70 leading to the casing 63 of the motor and on the other to the air pres sure in a pipe 66 connected to a bell 65 submerged in proximity to the motor. A valve eonfrolled bye-pass is provided for maintaining a volume of air in the pipe 66, and pressure gauges 76, 77 indicate the pressure in the pipes 70 and 66 respectively. The diaphragm may be replaced by a piston and a chamber formed in or secured to the casing of the motor may replace the bell. Specification 282,716 is referred to.
