Fluid governors. - In the governor shown in Fig. 2, the plunger 4 is acted upon by two pressures p<1>, p<2> formed by pumping liquid through perforated, throttling-diaphragms of different size 2, 16. The plunger 4 is held up to close an aperture 9 by an adjustable spring 5. When the plunger is depressed, the release of pressure in chamber 8 enables a spring to raise a piston 11 to adjust the speed-controlling means. In a modi. fication, the diaphragm 2 is replaced by an annular 'space between a collar on the plunger 4 and the casing 4<1>, and the pressure p<2> acts upon differential ends on the plunger connected by a bore therein. In a further modification, the plunger is replaced by a lever mounted in a wall separating two pressure chambers and carrying a perforated diaphragm and the lever carries heads on its ends which are subjected to the two pressures. The diaphragm may be replaced by clearance between the lever and the wall.
