Abstract

304,373. English Electric Co., Ltd., and Seewer, P. W. Oct. 21, 1927. Piston packing.-Hydraulic piston packing comprises an endless ring 3 of india-rubber &c. having a shallow recess 6 at the back to which pressure fluid is admitted through passages 7. The pressure may be partially balanced by fluid admitted to a groove in the working surface through perforations from the space 6. The depth of the ring is such that, in the absence of fluid pressure, only a small clearance exists at the working surface. Specification 186,233 is referred to.
