A gas lift valve assembly concentric with the well tubing comprises a valve member 17 actuated by a bellows 18 through a transversely movable ring member 24. Bellows 18 is connected to a gas chamber 22 at a predetermined pressure. The surface areas of valve member 17 and bellows 18 are such that the valve opens when the lift gas pressure surrounding the valve housing.reaches a predetermined value. Valve member 17 is not attached to ring 24 and can act as a check valve. Two valve assemblies may be connected to a common pressure chamber 22, Fig. 6 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), the valve member opens outwardly of the valve housing and is coupled to an actuating diaphragm or piston by a ring surrounding the housing, a separate check valve being provided. In another embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown), the valve member and actuating diaphragm are axially disposed in the housing and linked by a pivoted lever, a check valve being carried by the valve member.
