Abstract

1,100,584. Valves. SEETRU Ltd. 28 May, 1965 [9 April, 1964], No. 14650/64. Heading F2V. A manually actuated valve is provided with a seat unit between an inlet 1a and an outlet 1b consisting of an annular P.T.F.E. ring 14 surmounted by a steel washer 5 with which is integral a cage element 4 having apertures 4a leading to the outlet 1b; on top of the cage is a second P.T.F.E. annulus 20 and the whole is held in place by threaded plug 2 with locking means 32, 33, which plug controls the compression of the annulus 20 that seals a cylindrical valve stem 3a. The latter is actuated by a threaded shaft 3 and may be free to rotate relative thereto. The stem 3a slides in the bore formed by the washer 5, ring 14 and a body drilling 10 continuous therewith; the part 3b has a graduating extremity 3c. A flange 18 on the stem 3a acts through a sleeve 121 to compress the ring 14 and annulus 20 against the valve body and the stem to prevent leakage during the final seating movement of the stem. The plug 2 may be used for pre-compression of the ring 14 and annulus 20.
