Abstract

A valve has a closure member 10 with a contoured end portion 12 joined to a cylindrical skirt 11 at an annular surface 13 which is complementary to and engages with a seat 4 on a screw-in sleeve 3. Parallel longitudinal projections 8 which project radially inwards from the wall of passage 5 guide the closure member during movement by a connecting rod 27, a crank 26, and a shaft 20 rotatable by a diaphragm-operated lever or an electrically-driven gear-wheel arrangement.
