Abstract
292,203. Stokes, R. O. Feb. 19, 1927. Diaphragm pumps.-In a pump piston of the kind comprising two diaphragms enclosing liquid, one diaphragm 8 is attached at its inner edge to a plate 10 movable with respect to the piston rod 3 against a spring 13, so that the space enclosed between the diaphragms may vary. The outer edges of both diaphragms 5, 8 are fixed between rings 15, 16, 17. Liquid is admitted to the space between the diaphragms by a passage 21 provided with an inlet valve 23 and a safety valve 24. An air relief tap 25 is mounted as shown. In a modified construction the spring 13 is mounted between a plate attached to the ring 6 and a post on the movable plate 10. Alternatively, the inner plate 4 may be arranged to yield.
