Abstract

562,833. Centrifugal pumps. WEIR, Ltd., G. & J., and HILLIER, H. April 3, 1943, No. 5375. [Class 110 (i)] In a centrifugal pump 1 for liquids having a byepass valve 8 and a non-return discharge valve, the byepass valve is actuated by liquid admitted to a piston engaging the valve by a pilot valve 18 operated by the pressure difference on the two sides of the discharge valve 11. The latter in closing under this pressure difference may open 18 by means of a lever 21 against the pressure of a spring 23. In another form, the pilot valve is operated by a diaphragm exposed on opposite sides to the pressures on the two sides of the valve 11. Specification 558,542, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
