Abstract

475,202. Diaphragm pumps. MORRIS, A. G., and RIGGS, T. C. July 1, 1936, No. 18299. [Class 102 (i)] In a diaphragm pump a body 12, supported of ledges 11 in a casing 10, is formed with inlet and discharge passages 13, 14, and has a circular flange 18 to which the diaphragm 20 is secured by means of a band 21. The valves 16, 17 are of rubber, of the type having two or three flaps. The diaphragm is clamped by means of a nut 25 to a plate 27, to which the connecting-rod 28 is pivoted. The connecting rod may be operated by an eccentric or by a crank 31 secured on the end of the driving- shaft 33 by a pin 34. The air bottle 37 may be of flat circular form, as shown, or an inclined cylinder may be employed. In a modification the diaphragm is formed with a peripheral groove which engages the flange 18, and the connecting-rod 28 is rigidly secured to the diaphragm.
