Fluid-actuated valves. - In apparatus for actuating a controlling member in accordance with the pressure of an actuating liquid or gaseous fluid, the pressure of this fluid is transmitted to a piston through the medium of a flowing auxiliary liquid. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the pressure of the actuating fluid acts on the auxiliary liquid in a vessel 1 communicating with a cylinder 8 containing a piston 9 connected to a controlling valve 11. The auxiliary liquid leaks past the piston to an outlet 12, and a float-operated valve 6 regulates the supply of auxiliary liquid to maintain a constant level in the vessel 1. In modifications of this form, the float-operated valve regulates the discharge of the auxiliary liquid from the vessel 1, and the cylinder 8 may be positioned in the vessel. In other forms, the actuating fluid enters a chamber 13, Figs. 4 and 5, separated by a diaphragm 15 from a chamber 14 to which the auxiliary liquid is supplied, a member 18 carried by the diaphragm regulating the supply or discharge of the auxiliary liquid.
