Abstract

177,817. Burdick, C. L. Oct. 1, 1920. Fluid-actuated valves.-In spray producers the supply of one fluid is dependent on the pressure of a second fluid. In Fig. 1 the atomizing fluid is supplied by the passage 12 and liquids by the passage 7. The pressure of the atomizing fluid is regulated by a cock in the supply pipe. Ports 15, 16 conduct the pressure fluid to the back of a piston 14 connected to the needle valve 4. On the fluid pressure rising to certain amount the valve is opened, the amount of opening depending on the pressure of the fluid. The needle valve is normally closed by a spring 20 the pressure of which is regulated by a cap 18. Fig. 2 shows a form in which the pressure fluid is led to the back of a diaphragm 26, the motion of which is communicated to the needle valve through levers 30, 32.
