Abstract

288,941. Lucca, S. Dec. 24, 1927. Stuffing-box joints.-A coupling for pipes 1, 2 comprises a sleeve 3 provided internally at each end with a recess for packing 11 which is compressed by lugs 8<b> on a screw-cap 8 through the medium of a gland 12. The sleeve is also provided with a central internally projecting ring 10 against which the ends of the pipes abut, while both the sleeve and screw-caps are formed with ribs 4, 8a respectively to facilitate rotation of the parts. The pipe ends may be further secured in place by screws 14 carried by the said lugs 8<b>.
