Inking-apparatus.-In an inking-apparatus for an offset printing-machine in which a number of inking and distributing rollers co-operate with one or more inking-cylinders mounted in a fixed position, all the inking and distributing rollers are mounted in a sliding and swinging frame by the movement of which the relative contact of all the inking-rollers and inking cylinder or cylinders can be broken. In one form, Fig. 1, two forme-inking rollers 2, 4 and a distributing-roller 6 are mounted in a sliding frame 7 and co-operate with a pair of distributing-cylinders 3, 5 mounted in fixed positions. The frame 7 may be moved from the normal position shown to a position in which the rollers 2, 4 are out of contact with the forme cylinder but still in contact with the cylinders 3, 5, and also a position in which all the rollers are separated from one another. In another form, Fig. 8, a single forme-inking roller 2 and a distributing-roller 4 are mounted on a pair of swinging side frames 7 and co-operate with a single cylinder 3 mounted in a fixed position. A damping- roller 12 and co-acting cleaning-roller 13 are mounted in slots 11 in the frames 7. Handlevers 19 pivoted to the frames 7 are connected by pins 20 to links 23 mounted on fixed pivots 22 and the levers 19 co-operate with notches 15 - - 18 in the frames 7 to hold the frame in four different positions. In the normal position shown, the levers 19 engage the notches 15. In the second position, the roller 2 is out of contact with the forme roller 1, but the rollers 2, 4 are still in contact with the cylinder 3 and the roller 12 with the forme roller. In the third position, the roller 12 is moved out of contact with the roller 1, but the rollers 2, 3, 4 are still in contact with one another. In the fourth position the rollers 2, 4 are separated from the cylinder 3. The links 23 are formed as flat springs and are perforated to receive the pins 20, so that by pressing back these links the frames 7 can be entirely removed by lifting them from their pivots 10.
