Abstract
261,746. Rothmann, E. Nov. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Platen machines; embossing; intaglioplate printing. - A platen press, which may be used for printing from engraved plates or for embossing, is constructed with a platen a<1> forming, or carried by, one arm of a double-armed lever, the other arm b of which is comparatively long and is formed with a slot e engaged by a pin d<1> on a lever d oscillated bv a link g and crank h. The pin f which connects the link g and lever d also engages a slot p in a lever l connected by a link o to a frame n supporting the bed m and printing-plate i, so that as the platen opens the plate i is raised to engage an inking-roller x<1> supplied by ink from a duct s in known manner. The plate i is wiped by a band and pad v operated in known manner. The arrangement is such that the platen makes a long swing to assume its open position.
