286,324. Synthetic Ammonia & Nitrates, Ltd., and Humphrey, R. A. Sept. 27, 1926. Direct liquid - pres. sure apparatus.-Semiliquids are introduced into a high-pressure vessel A from a vessel B by pumping a displacing fluid into the latter. The displacing fluid is drawn from a reservoir C by a pump D and enters the vessel B through a valve I. When all the liquid has been forced from the vessel B, a valve E is opened to allow the fluid to return to the vessel C. Valve E is then closed and a valve G opened to admit fresh liquid to the vessel B. An atmospheric valve H is opened when the valves E and G are open. A gauge F indicates the liquid level in the vessel C. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a differential piston K is arranged between the displacing fluid and the liquid in the vessel B. Specification 192,691, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.], is referred to.
