Brushing.-In a machine for brushing pile &c. fabrics in which the fabric passes round a number nf backing drums or cylinders A fixed on round shafts capable of sliding endways and enveloped by stationary brushes, the drive chains f<3>, g<3> or gear system connecting the drums are kept in perfect alignment during the end motion of the drums. As shown, the gear wheels f, g<1>, g<2>, g<4> are secured to the drum shafts A<1>, A<2>, A<3> the wheel f carrying a projection and roller f<1>, f<2> engaging a pin e<2> projecting laterally from the, wheel e which is loose on and does not move endways with the shaft A'.
