Tentering. - The two chains of a tentering machine are driven by separate trains of gearing e, k, rand f, m v from the main shaft u, each train comprising means under brake control for retarding the speed. As shown, the pinions r, v are secured to frames t, w loose on the shaft u but compelled to rotate therewith by the normally stationary worm wheels x, y and worms z, 2. These worms are connected by bevel and spur gearing with brake drums 15, 16 also loose on the shaft u. If the free rotation of either drum 15, 16 is prevented the speed of the corresponding chain wheel a, b is reduced. Specification 261,675 is referred to.
