Abstract

154,346. Backstrom, C. P. Sept. 1, 1919. Adjusting bogies for steering. - In a motor tilting plough, the share frame 1 is mounted on a pivot 31 at right angles to the axle 2 and is swung about it for steering purposes by turning a handwheel 34 carrying a drum on which winds a wire 35 fastened to the engine frame 30 and passing round pulleys on both frames. The engine frame 30 consists of upper and lower members forming between them a guideway for the frame 1. The frame 1 is provided with supporting-rollers 20, 21 carried by pivoted arms 18, 19 furnished with racks 22, 23 engaging with pawls 24, 25. The engine drives a shaft 13 through spur gearing 8, 9, 11, 12 and an intermediate shaft 10. Pinions 14, 15 on the shaft 13 gear with spur-wheels 16, 17 on the travelling wheels 3. On reversing the motor the pinions 14, 15 roll downwardly on the toothed wheels 16, 17, thus tilting the frames 30, 1, before commencing to rotate the travelling wheels 3.
