Abstract
331,970. Cox, H. E., Torrance, J. R., and Torrance & Sons, Ltd. May 2, 1929. Roller mills.-In a triple roller for grinding inks, pastes the revolutions of the rolls 1, 2, 3 may be in the ratio of 15 : 2¢ : 1, the speeds of the rolls 2, 3 being obtained through a train of double wheels mounted free to rotate on a driving axis 14 and an intermediate axis 17 respectively. The gear wheels 26, 24 for driving the gear wheels 27, 25 on the rolls 1, 3 respectively are mounted on spindles 28, 17 movable in arcs about the spindle 17 so that the gears can be made to mesh in any adjusted position of the rolls, the adjustment 11 for the rolls being preferably that described in Specification 218,752. On the shaft 14, Fig. 3, is mounted a fixed pinion 13, double pinions 20, 21 rotatable on the shaft, and a fixed gear wheel 25a. On the intermediate shaft 14 is mounted double pinions 15, 16 and 23, 24 each rotatable on the shaft, and on the intermediate shaft 28 is mounted a rotatable wheel 26. The roll 1 is driven bv wheels 25a, 26, 27, the roll 2 is driven by wheels 13, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 and the roll 3 is driven by wheels 13, 15, 16, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25.
