285,862. Westinghouse Air Brake Co., (Assignees of McCune, J. C.). Feb. 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Couplings.-A train coupling of the type having a contact-carrier 2 that is projected to engage a counterpart on an adjacent vehicle, such as described in Specification 224,990, is constructed with toggle mechanism for projecting the carrier 2 and for opening a door 18 that normally closes the aperture through which the carrier projects. A push rod 5 actuates by means of a pawl 10 a shaft 11 carrying arms 13 linked to a pin 14 on the carrier 2, and forming a toggle. The arm 13 is also pivotally connected to a link 23 that abuts against a roller 22 on an arm 21 mounted on a shaft 20 that carries a lever 10 connected to the sliding door 18.
