Abstract
270,998. Hutchings, H. B. Jan. 5, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Actuated by relaxation of pull. - In trailer brakes automatically operated when the trailer overtakes the tractor a slotted connection is provided for the draught-pin 6 interconnecting the tractor draw-bar 19 and the trailer draw-bar on which a lever 8 is fulcrummed, one of the ends of this lever being connected by a link 10 with the draught pin 6 or the draw bar 19 and the other end is connected to the brake mechanism by a cable 15 passing around a pulley 14. The link 10 is connected to the pin 6 or to the bar 19 according to whether the slot of the slotted connection is in the bar 1 or the bar 19. A spring 17 retains the brakes in the inoperative position. A channel iron 3 and metal plate 2 are bolted to the bar 1. The lever 8 is contained in a slot in the bar 1.
