Abstract

282,260. Dewdney, G. F. April 11, 1927. Lever lids. - A closure for canisters or like metal containers comprises a channel d of V-section formed from and external to a separately formed " one-piece " neck portion a and engaged by a similar channel f formed at the edge of the lid. The outer edges of the channels are formed with projections or beads g, g<1> to facilitate the operation of levering off the lid. A joint-forming liquid, such as a thick paint, is applied to the channelled parts, and the closure is secured in place by means of metal strips bent from the edges of the lid under the neck ring, by a strip of metal laid across the lid and having the ends clamped under the neck ring, or by a capsule.
